As the CEO of the Protect Our Children Project, I want to take a moment to address an issue that weighs heavily on our heart child abuse and the insidious nature of bullying, both in schools and online. April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time to raise awareness, educate our communities, and advocate for the vulnerable voices of our children.Every child deserves to grow up in an environmentfree from fear, violence, and emotional pain. Sadly, many children face unimaginable challenges, from physical and emotional abuse to the relentlessharassment that can occur in school hallways or on digital platforms. We must unite as a community to break the cycles of silence and suffering that toooften go unaddressed. This month, we encourage everyone to take activesteps to protect our children. Let’s foster open dialogues about the signs ofabuse and bullying, ensuring that parents, educators, and caregivers areequipped with the knowledge to recognize and respond effectively. Awareness isthe first step toward prevention, and together we can create safe spaces wherechildren feel empowered to speak out.We also recognize the crucial role technologyplays in our children’s lives. While the internet can serve as a valuableresource for learning and connection, it can also become a breeding ground forcyberbullying. Let’s commit to educating our children about responsible onlinebehavior and the importance of kindness, empathy, and respect in allinteractions—both in person and online. As we reflect on these issues this April, let’sremember that every effort counts. Whether it’s volunteering at a local school, participating in community events, or simply having conversations with ourchildren about their experiences and feelings, we each have a role to play insafeguarding the well-being of our youth. At the Protect Our Children Project, we arededicated to advocating for policies that protect children and provide supportto those affected by abuse and bullying. We invite you to join us in this vitalmission. Together, we can create a world where every child can thrive free from harm. Let’s stand together for our children—not justthis month, but every day. Together, we can make a difference.
